活動鉸鏈／活動折葉，英文中是living hinge，維基百科的定義為：
A living hinge is a thin flexible hinge (flexure bearing) made from the same material as the two rigid pieces it connects, rather than cloth, leather, or some other flexible substance. It is typically thinned or cut to allow the rigid pieces to bend along the line of the hinge. The minimal friction and very little wear in such a hinge makes it useful in the design of microelectromechanical systems, and the low cost and ease of manufacturing makes them quite common in disposable packaging.[1]維基百科定義中，強調了活動鉸鏈的材質和其相連的兩個材質是相同的，而不是使用布質、皮革活著其它柔性材質。日常生活中最常見於一次性物品和其它低成本的註塑成型的塑膠產品，比如下面的保鮮盒中邊扣就是典型的活動鉸鏈：
